Tournaments provide an option for additional hockey experiences and, often times, are a great opportunity for the team to bond.   Unfortunately, due to financial constraints, SMS will not be picking up a portion of the tournament registration fee as it has done in prior years. 

Tournament fees will be the responsibility of the participants.  There are local tournaments and travel tournaments, both in state and out of state.  (Note:  If you choose to attend an out of state tournament you must complete at travel permit form – the form is available on the Mass hockey website.) 

Tournaments typically need to be entered early to guarantee entry.  Some resources for finding tournaments are listed on the Mass Hockey′s website (http://www.masshockey.com/Tournaments and NESC′s website (http://www.nes.com/Events.asp .

Most tournaments will require a copy of the team′s signed stamped roster so be sure to contact your coach or the SMS registrar.  Also, some tournaments participate in a pin exchange – contact the SMS Team Manager coordinator should you need pins.
