Learn to Play - Little Devils
The SMS Little Devils Learn-To-Play Hockey program is considered one of the best learn-to-play hockey programs in Massachusetts and has started the hockey careers of hundreds of players since its inception. It is designed for the first-time player by providing an engaging fun environment that is focused on skill development.

Ages: 4-8 years old
Prerequisite: Must have completed at least one year of Learn to Skate (LTS)
Focus: Continued emphasis on skating skills with an introduction to hockey fundamentals.
Equipment: Full hockey gear required, including a helmet with a cage (no bike helmets permitted).
Evaluation: Players are assessed during the first few weeks and placed in either LTP1 (beginner) or LTP2 (advanced) groups.
Teams: Formed and balanced based on age and skill level.
Jersey: Every registered player will receive a SMSYH jersey.
Schedule: Sessions take place on Saturday morning at 10:00am held at Valley Sports Arena in Concord and Sunday mornings at 8:50am, held at Nasoba Valley Olympia Rink in Boxborough. The season begins first weekend in November and runs through early-March.
Cost: $750 for the season.
2025-2026
The SMS Little Devils Learn-To-Play Hockey program is primarily for players ages 4 through 8. The program consists of players from Sudbury, Maynard, and Stow. Players from surrounding communities are welcome.
The core mission of the SMS program is player development. The season begins in November and will run through February.
All players must have a current USA Hockey number at registration.
Program Cost:
Player Tuition is $750
All players will be evaluated and assigned to a team that participates in the SMS house development league. A non-refundable deposit of $100 is due at the time of registration.
The remaining balance will be charged to the credit card on file or ACH payment on October 1st, 2025.
